About Beer Boot Camp

What is Beer Boot Camp?
Beer Boot Camp is a week of beer and brewing related events run by the Craft Brewers Association of South Africa- with the highlight of the week being our full day symposium on the 17th June 2024 at Emperor's Palace Boksburg- focusing on delivering a high quality educational experience to South African brewers and beer enthusiasts. Delegates will hear from leading brewing specialists from around the world, as well as experiencing practical sessions, beer tastings, and of course networking and socializing opportunities.

Beer Boot Camp Brewers Symposium

The highlight of our weeks events is the Brewers Symposium - a full day of educational sessions presented by international speakers including Steve Grossman from Sierra Nevada, Hendo Henderson from Rockstar Brewer Academy, Amelie Tassin from Tipple Marketing and founder of Women in Beer, Bob Pease the CEO of the Brewers Association in the USA and award winning author Pete Brown.

Beer Boot Camp events are designed to achieve the following key objectives:

  1. Encouraging Growth: Support the extended beer value chain and facilitate job creation directly linked to brewing, driving economic development in the industry.
  2. Education and Knowledge Sharing: Provide a platform for brewers and the wider brewing community to learn, exchange ideas, and gain valuable industry insights.
  3. Showcasing South African Beer: Highlight the richness of South African beer styles and locally sourced raw ingredients, promoting the excellence of our brewing culture.
  4. Responsible Drinking: Cultivate passionate, well-informed, and responsible drinkers by promoting responsible consumption practices and a sustainable future for the industry.
  5. Collaboration and Dialogue: Facilitate meaningful dialogue and collaboration between brewers and stakeholders across the beer value chain, including government representatives.
  6. Empowerment and Inclusion: Promote beer education and empower entrepreneurs from previously disadvantaged backgrounds, fostering diversity and inclusivity in the craft brewing industry.
  7. Encourage Tourism: International visitors are treated to captivating sightseeing tours and an immersive stay at a game lodge, fostering the creation of ambassadors who will promote tourism in South Africa and the host city. Additionally, we extend invitations to guests from various African regions and provinces, providing them with the opportunity to savour the unique delights of the area.

The Symposium also includes a full three course lunch, beer,  'goodie bag' and a tasting glass.
